The perfect sangeet playlist for the bride and groom's parents

Tracks that prove that old is indeed gold.

Gone are the days when the sangeet was just about solo or duet performances by the bride and groom. Times have changed for the better, and we now see moms and dads burn the dance floor with moves that prove age will always be a number. With them having all the swag to make the sangeet all the more memorable, we’ve rounded up a couple of tracks that the mother and father of the bride and groom can dance on. It’s time to shine the spotlight on them (literally) and let them have their moment on the dance floor.

Ude Jab Jab Zulfen Teri (Naya Daur, 1957)

Despite being from a film that’s 67 years old, the song shows how evergreen it is by being one of the most preferred songs when it comes to a parent’s sangeet performance. What could make the moment more heartwarming is if the father is balding and is sporting enough to have his wife lip-sync to the lyrics of this track.

Kyon Aage Peeche Dolte Ho Bhawro Ki Tarah (Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, 2006)

If your parents are all about the banter and love to pull each other’s leg, there’s no better track for them to perform on. And with the song not having too much to do in the form of steps, it's time for your loved ones to show their creativity by coming up with their own version of the number on the spot.

Saalam-E-Ishq (Salaam-E-Ishq, 2007)

A song that brought a host of stars (and singers who lent their voice) together will bring everyone at the sangeet on to the dance floor. And if they’ve got the parents of the bride and groom dancing together to this song and starting proceedings, the celebration of love as their children begin a new chapter of their life only gets better.

Navrai Majhi (English Vinglish, 2012)

There won’t be a more apt song for the mother of the bride to perform than this song that’s all about her little girl who’s brought up with a whole lot of love. Comparing her to her blessing and a god’s lift, the lyrics are all things emotional as they talk about their daughter going to her beloved’s home in style.

Nachde Ne Saare (Baar Baar Dekho, 2016)

It’s a great song for parents of either side to show their love for the couple with the line ‘Munda thoda off beat hai, par kudiya de naal bahut sweet hai,' seeing them perform a hookstep that’ll bring a wide smile to all watching.

Tere Vaaste (Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, 2023)

Love’s all about promises and what you can do for your loved one. We’re pretty sure our parents made a lot of them back in the day and still do, one of them being that they promise to love each other and show the youngsters how to keep the romance alive. And if they didn’t know the exact words, this track that’s all about promises is the perfect reminder to everyone at the sangeet.
