Inside Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth’s South Indian temple wedding

From on-screen chemistry to their eternal off-screen love story, the couple took their vows as husband and wife.

From the sets of Ajay Bhupathi’s 2021 Telugu film Maha Samudram, which served as the backdrop to their love story, to “Mrs & Mr Adu-Siddhu”, actors Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth officially tied the knot yesterday, on September 16. Their relationship, which has been a shared space of love, laughter and never growing up, has garnered the affection and blessings of many. The couple announced the news of their nuptials through a series of Instagram posts, which is also how they announced their engagement earlier in March this year.

In a 2018 interview with Brides Today, Rao Hydari revealed her vision for the perfect wedding. “I don’t know about the exact number, but all my ‘homies’ will be there. The love that one surrounds oneself with is the biggest blessing you can have,” she said. Judging by the photographs from their enchanting ceremony shared yesterday, it’s clear that she manifested the wedding of her dreams. Their intimate ceremony at the 400-year-old Wanaparthy temple, a location of immense significance for the couple, embodied this sentiment as they expressed their gratitude to all their “dearest humans” who have been part of their journey. Looking ahead, the couple is set to celebrate the occasion with a grand three-day event in October at a historic fort in Rajasthan.

With traditional South Indian attire by the ingenious heritage designer, Sabyasachi, the bride and the groom celebrated the occasion with eternal elegance and poise. Rao Hydari chose an exquisite handwoven Maheshwari tissue lehenga paired with a Benarasi tissue dupatta from Sabyasachi’s Heritage Textile collection. “For the longest time, I had imagined myself wearing white [at the wedding]. I have great love for Sabyasachi [Mukherjee] because he is incredible with textile. He is a creative genius, and just knows how to do things beautifully,” she shared previously. Siddharth charmingly complemented his bride’s regal simplicity in a classic Sabyasachi silk kurta and a handwoven Benarasi dhoti, paired with a veshti of his own design.

With minimal henna on her hands and feet, the actress echoed the sentiment she had previously shared in the interview, saying, “I will not be wearing heels, I’d be barefoot and dancing.” When it came to her exquisite bijouterie, she accentuated her ensemble with Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery and added an ethereal element of grace and tradition through her beautiful white mogra gajra. Time stood still as the couple made their heartfelt tribute to their South Indian roots through their ensembles as well as their ceremonies.
