How I put together my sister’s wedding playlist and everything you need to keep in mind while doing so

When my sister announced her wedding, I knew I would be responsible for creating the wedding playlist. Knowing that my sister had been planning her dream wedding for almost forever, it wasn't too difficult for me to make a playlist comprising all the perfect and her most favorite songs that would capture her personality and the vibe of the functions. I knew the playlist needed to reflect her loving, caring, and energetic self, essentially, her ‘sunshine girl’ personality.

The process of picking the songs was fairly straightforward for me, but if you are finding it difficult to create a wedding playlist, here’s what you should keep in mind:

Before taking on the task of curating the wedding playlist, it's crucial that you have a basic understanding of their music preferences. The genres they gravitate towards, who their favorite artists are, songs that are stuck in their head since forever, songs that define their relationship, tunes that have been the defining moments in journey and so on. Gaining these insights into these details will allow you to craft a playlist that truly resonates with them.

Curate different sections for various wedding events

When compiling the wedding playlist, it's essential to understand that the music needs to suit a variety of moods. You'll require background tracks to set the ambience during the main ceremony, upbeat numbers for the sangeet or reception party, and the perfect songs for the couple's grand entries. To ensure there is less chaos, it's best to organise the playlist into sections catering to distinct event timelines and moods. This strategic division will allow you to have the right song ready for each scenario, whether it's a romantic ballad for the first dance or a high-energy number to get people grooving. 

Keep in mind your guests, too 

When compiling the wedding playlist, it's essential to strike a balance between reflecting the couple's musical preferences and catering to the diverse tastes of the guests in attendance. The wedding celebration brings together people of all ages and backgrounds, each with their own inclinations when it comes to music.
