From Columbia University to a fairytale wedding at Jaipur’s iconic Rambagh Palace: Rupal and Tanmay's love blossoms

Love is simple, and organic, and often finds its way in unexpected places. What started as a friendship in their freshman year at Columbia University, New York deepened over time, and led to their breathtaking wedding at Jaipur’s iconic Rambagh Palace. For Rupal Gupta, who hails from Jaipur, tying the knot at the Rambagh Palace, steeped in royal history and grandeur, was the fairytale wedding every bride dreams of. 

With the glorious state of Rajasthan as their backdrop and the expert touch of Konark Events, every detail of their wedding decor was par excellence. The power of design in upscaling an event cannot be understated, and Gupta and Tanmay Khandelwal’s wedding was a shining example of how personalisation can turn a celebratory event into something truly extraordinary. 

The festivities kicked off on July 14 with the welcome lunch and mehendi at Maharani Mahal, aptly themed Rendezvous in Rajasthan where the decor was the perfect blend of traditional Rajasthani elements and contemporary pastels. 

The pastel angan theme infused with silver elements set the tone for the wedding to follow. Delicate block prints, silver photo frames, and personalised name cut-outs of the couple adorned the space, adding warmth and a certain joie de vivre. It was like stepping into a dream, with exotic flowers like anthuriums laced around the setting.

The Sangeet, called Techno Beats, saw a vibrant colour palette of purple, blue, and black. Projection mapping, kinetic light effects, and holographic lamps transformed the hall into a futuristic wonderland. The outdoor dining area, encased in a transparent dome with neon-coloured balls, was particularly delightful, offering a surreal experience under the stars. 

Drawing inspiration from the couple’s shared love for New York’s bustling markets, the Haldi ceremony was themed the Farmer’s Market, with more than 13 stalls featuring rustic elements like carts laden with flowers, fruit and other goodies.

Guests could pick up Italian-inspired tote bags, personalised with the couple’s initials, and fill them with custom elements from the farmer’s market, including scented candles, organic foods and engraved coffee sippers. “This event was close to our hearts and our favourite. We wanted our guests to experience something new and fresh, which would also remind us of how our journey began,” shared the couple.

The two tied the knot in a unique lotus mandap, surrounded by lush florals. The white and gold accents added an atmospheric serenity that reflected the sanctity of the occasion. “From the moment we shared our vision with Himish, we knew we could trust him to bring it to life. Every detail we envisioned was beautifully executed, with personalisation taking on a new meaning. Himish and his team truly understood our desires and went above and beyond to make sure every element reflected our story. The entire experience felt seamless, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting for our special day,” shared Rupal. 

Sharing his thoughts on this special wedding, Himish Agarwal, the CEO and Creative Director of Konark Events said, “We wanted to create an experience that was not just visually stunning but also deeply personal to Rupal and Tanmay.
