Tips to remember before you pop the question in a public setting.

There are few things sweeter in your relationship than asking your partner to spend the rest of your life together. You could do it at your favourite destination or the diner you usually go to for a quick meal, or a restaurant that's always been on your checklist, the options are endless. If the proposing at a restaurant idea seems appealing to you, remember, it is a lot more than just booking a table. The ambience, menu, and other, finer details will likely determine the chances of a beautiful moment.

Take your pick: sentiment or splendour

You could choose a place that's special for both of you, maybe the restaurant where you had your first date. Another one could be a usual spot, especially beause the staff and management would know you well and may oblige to take extra efforts to make the moment special. Moreover, your partner will least expect a proposal and will let the surprise be a surprise. On the other hand, you could pull out all the stops and make a reservation at a fine-dine restaurant and surprise your partner.

Consider who all you want to be a part of this

For some, proposals are a private affair, while others like the company of their friends and family. While there’s no perfect number of people you should have, we’d hope you keep it to a minimum. Also, remember, the number of people you’d want at the proposal will also determine the venue. The staff should be made aware of this too, as executing the proposal may get tougher if they are thrown by surprise.

An ideal pick would be a weeknight

It goes without saying that there is a higher chance of you getting a reservation on a weeknight compared to a weekend. There’s only one right answer if you’re a person who doesn’t want too many people or background noise around you when you pop the question.

Plan the timing well

Deciding when to pop the question during the course of the meal is key and it's best to go by what your gut says. If you pop the question before the meal arrives, you and your partner have all the time to enjoy and celebrate the moment. Plus, you will not feel nervous right till the end. So getting it out of the way could be the right thing to do. On the other hand, proposing after dinner gives you the time to gather yourself and be more calm before asking the big question.

Take the restaurant’s help

The staff and management are there to make things easier for you, so take their help. You might have made all those plans in your head, but trust the restaurant and the team to execute it. There could be a host of restrictions at the restaurant and they are the best to help you mend your plans or accommodate your request. So leave it to the experts to ensure that everything goes smoothly.
