The Ambani-Merchant wedding was a fashion extravaganza, with the family and guests walking the wedding red carpet in awe-inspiring outfits. This is especially true for Ambani women, who gave us unforgettable looks in traditional and contemporary silhouttes. From Isha Ambani's Schiaparelli saree-gown to the Rangkat ghagra that Nita Ambani donned, craftmanship and aesthetics shone at the wedding festivities of Anant and Radhika.
Here are our favourtie eight looks.
Nita Ambani
For Anant and Radhika’s sangeet ceremony, Nita Ambani donned a custom lehenga by Falguni Shane Peacock. This exquisite look was crafted from a tulle base and decorated with an array of Swarovski crystals and stones in green, indigo, sky blue, blush pink, silver, and peach. The A-line lehenga featured a scalloped hem and jeweled tassels. It was embellished with 125,000 silver crystals as well as silver resham work featuring a cascading design with embroidered bird motifs and tassels. The ensemble was complemented with a chiffon dupatta showcasing sequins, delicate embroidery, multicoloured stones, and pearl details, enhancing the grandeur of the lehenga.
She chose a bespoke Manish Malhotra saree for the couple's reception ceremony. This multi-resham kadhwa floral woven brocade saree is a masterpiece that not only features intricate real silver embroidery but also real diamonds! She is known for her grand taste in jewels but her love for precious gems goes beyond jewellery pieces; she elegantly intergrates them into her clothing and hair.
Her saree is an enchanting shade of red embellished with an array of sequins, beads, and crystals. She draped the five meters traditionally and let the pallu gracefully fall from her shoulder. Her blouse was a vibrant pink piece from Manish Malhotra archival. This look was a testament to Nita Ambani’s timeless style and Manish Malhotra’s unparalleled craftsmanship.
Radhika Merchant
A work of art, literally, this lehenga was created by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, contemporary Indian artist and sculptor Jayasri Burman, and Rhea Kapoor for the bride’s first evening as Mrs Radhika Ambani. This truly resplendent outfit comprises twelve panels that celebrate Anant and Radhika’s union, with meaningful imagery including human figures symbolising the happy couple and auspicious fauna representing Anant’s fondness for animals, especially elephants.
Meticulous hand embroidery in real gold zardozi and sequins enhance Burman’s intricate artwork. The ensemble includes a blouse entirely embroidered in resham by craftsmen at Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. The lehenga embodies the joy of new beginnings.
For the haldi ceremony, designer Anamika Khanna crafted a breathtaking ensemble that perfectly encapsulated the joyous spirit of the occasion. The outfit featured a vibrant yellow lehenga adorned with delicate floral embroidery highlighting the intricate craftsmanship synonymous with Anamika’s designs.
The statement element was the custom phoolon ki chadar dupatta, beautifully draped over Radhika. This unique piece was curated with jasmine buds (tadar kalis) and marigold (gende ka phool) that added a touch of traditional charm. The dupatta perfectly complemented the overall look.
For the final reception ceremony, Radhika a phenomenal ensemble that blended the best of Indian and international couture. The outfit featured a golden corset from Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda Sardegna 2024 collection, epitomising opulence and modern glamour. The top half was balconette-style with a sweetheart neckline and modern sleeveless straps.
The corset was paired with a couture saree by Anamika Khanna, the form-fitting silk skirt was laden with embellishments and intricate embroidery and the drape was a shining long gold trail with floral embroidery giving a royal touch to the whole outfit.
For her bidai, Radhika wore a multi-paneled Banarasi brocade lehenga in enchanting sunset-hues. She wore a magnificent gold blouse featuring real gold karchobi work, inspired by traditional abho and Kutch’s rich textile heritage echoing the artistry of the late 19th century. It was also intricately detailed with zari and badla showing an interplay of modernity and tradition.
Adding to its grandeur was a draped lattice designed Banarasi dupatta with shimmering gold accents, creating a mesmerising visual effect.
