Here’s everything to look forward to at the Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI 2023 that begins today

It’s a power-packed schedule, to say the least, as the biggest names in Indian fashion showcase their stunning collections in the capital city.

You witnessed the fashion carnival in New York, London, Milan, and Paris that made for four fantastic weeks of September. It’s now time for leading couturiers from India to showcase their collections at the Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI 2023 in New Delhi which starts today and will be on till October 15 at Pragati Maidan.

Here’s what’s in store for fashion lovers over the next six days.

Today, we will see Raw Mango make a welcome return to LFW. Designer Sanjay Garg will present his collection ‘Children of the Night’ which seeks inspiration from the world that brightens up after the dark. Furthermore, he will introduce Lakme’s Glitterati range. The Fashion Week will come to a close with a grand finale by New York-based Indian designer, Bibhu Mohapatra on October 15.

All eyes are on leading brands and couturiers

 

Expect nothing but the very best at the upcoming Fashion Week as the likes of renowned designer brands such as Tasva by Tarun Tahuliani (October 11), Kalki, and Park Avenue are set to showcase their collections. Also present will be German footwear brand, Birkenstock and designer duo, Shivan and Narresh present their collection on October 13. The biggest names in the Indian world of fashion, designers like Falguni and Shane Peacock, Amit Aggarwal, and Pankaj and Nidhi, will also be showcasing their elegant collections.

A fusion where fashion meets art

FDCI will also present a unique showcase titled ‘Fashion Wears Art’ at the Lakme Fashion Week, which will witness Indian artists collaborating with frontline fashion designers. The power-packed list of designers and artists includes JJ Valaya x Waswo X Waswo, Rajesh Pratap Singh x Mithu Sen, Namrata Joshipura x Sudarshan Shetty, Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna x Vibha Galhotra, Varun Bahl x A Ramachandran, HUEMN x Hanif Kureshi, Gautam Kalra x Siddharth Singh Bokolia.

Get ready to see a lot of menswear

 

Tarun Tahiliani will present his menswear label, Tasva, with a showcase during the fashion week, along with Pawan Sachdeva, the man behind AAP leader Raghav Chadha’s wedding wardrobe. Furthermore, Park Avenue’s collection is set to feature a lot of bomber jackets, suits, and wide-leg trousers. 

There’s plenty to look forward to for the brides, too

Designer Vani Vats is all set to impress with her first-ever show at Lakme Fashion Week with her collection, ‘Piroi’, which is heavily inspired by jewellery featuring pearls and mirrors. There’s also Nishit Gupta, founder of the label Kalki, who will embrace inclusivity and luxury with his collection ‘Zayra’. It’s set to be a collection that’ll range from blue and gold, to peach with each ensemble doused in elegance and luxury, perfect for a wedding.

All things sustainable 

 

The second day of the Fashion Week will see Payal Pratap, 11:11, Abraham and Thakore celebrate sustainability in its true form through their shows. Varun Bahl will also integrate sustainable fabrics by R | Elan with his unique floral-inspired festive collection. 

There’s a lot to shop as well

Like always, the highly-anticipated FDCI Designer Stockroom returns with its 11th edition hosted by the Fashion Design Council of India. With over 70 designers showcasing discounted ensembles, this fashion extravaganza will be open to the public on October 15th at Pragati Maidan between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
