All You Need to Know About Shyamal & Bhumika's Renaissance Inspired Collection at ICW'19

A medley of vintage pastels, silk thread embroidery, and fresco inspired motifs, Shyamal & Bhumika’s ICW’19 show was fit for a royal bride and her wedding party.

Noted for their bent towards history and heritage, Shyamal and Bhumika exhibited their Renaissance Muse collection at India Couture Week 2019 with Kriti Sanon as their showstopper. As the name suggests, the collection draws its artistic inspiration from the Renaissance period which marked the rebirth of art and architecture, however, the designs are interpreted with the label’s modern sensibilities.

The spirit of vintage European frescos and flora is maintained intact with intricate embellishments and surface ornamentations with elaborate beading, silk thread embroidery and floral motifs in gold Zardosi thread. Furthermore, the signature cutwork edging and painterly florals not only add winsome detailing but also signify the couple's love story as well.

From Kalidaar panelled lehengas to sheer organza sarees, this bridal couture stands synonymous to timelessness with the addition of peplum silhouettes and structured jackets graced with translucent georgette tulles. The menswear is designed in understated handwoven Tussar, Matkas and Moonga variety of silks making it unconventionally elegant. The jewel tones whisked with their palette of muted olive, dusty mint, vintage pastels, and blush pink make this collection a great choice for destination weddings.

Shyamal & Bhumika collaborated with Jewels of Jaipur for this collection. The jewellery range is inspired by queen Noor Jahan and is an ode to her vision and rule consisting of precious stones like emerald, sapphires and rubies with Polki jewellery made in 18kt yellow gold.

Fabricated with multiple silk threads and hints of glass and shimmer on a raw silk panelled lehenga, here is what Kriti Sanon said about her outfit, “Firstly, it is one of my favourite colours, it suits me well too. Whenever I wear nude-pastels, they complement my skin. I love the floral work and I am amused that this lehenga is so lightweight. If I am getting married, I would love to get married in something like this only. Also, I love the blouse and especially the cut of its sleeve, it’s very new and I have never done anything like this before. The moment I saw the blouse I made my mind on wearing it only.”
