One of the best things about modern Indian fashion is that despite its many rules, or lack thereof, there are a host of celebrities who are rewriting them. Despite their outfits always making it to social media, and the peg of many stories, so many of them don’t mind repeating their outfits. It’s a refreshing change as it’s not just eco-friendly but also makes these stars more relatable to their many admirers. Always rooting for sustainable fashion, Alia Bhatt has never been one to shy away from re-wearing, repurposing, and restyling her outfits. We take a look at all the times the Gully Boy actor has re-worn her most publicised outfits with elan.
Wearing her mehendi lehenga at Manish Malhotra’s Diwali Party
At Manish Malhotra’s Diwali party in Mumbai held last night (October 22), she was seen wearing a Manish Malhotra fuschia pink lehenga. Making a style statement that was all colour, Bhatt, who got married to Ranbir Kapoor in an intimate wedding ceremony in April 2022, wore the same personalised lehenga set for her mehendi. Inscribed with elements symbolic of her own journey and special moments woven with Kashmiri and Chikankari threads, the ensemble witnessed Mijwan women showcase their handwork over 3000 hours with approximately 180 textile patches—that ranged from block prints to intricately embroidered swathes of fabric.
Fast forward to the 2024 Diwali party, and Bhatt paired the lehenga with a blouse that was embellished in real gold and silver nakshi and kora flowers, and vintage gold metal sequins from Gujarat. She completed the look with chandbali earrings and kadas and went for a glam chic bun and minimal makeup.
Wearing her Sabyasachi wedding sari at the National Film Awards 2023
Back in October last year, Bhatt was conferred with the Best Actress award for her role in Gangubai Kathiawadi. To receive the special honour in New Delhi, Bhatt wore her Sabyasachi wedding saree, an elegant ivory embroidered drape with scalloped borders, intricate floral designs, and a long floor-sweeping pallu with a matching embroidered blouse featuring a plunging neckline, half-length sleeves, and a cropped silhouette. She accessorised the traditional ensemble with a gold and pearl choker, matching earrings, diamond rings, and a floral gajra adorning her messy bun. Lastly, she chose a red bindi, nude lip shade, winged eyeliner, and a dewy base for the finishing touch.
Sharing her thoughts as to why she chose the outfit. The actor said, “A special day calls for a special outfit. And sometimes, that outfit is already right there. What’s special once can be special again. And again...,” Alia wrote while urging her fans to "repeat, reuse and rewear" their clothes.
Wearing her Darlings promotions dress for Anissa Malhotra Jain’s baby shower
Bhatt repeated a velvet blue kaftan dress from her Darling promotions for Anissa Malhotra Jain and Armaan Jain’s baby shower last year.
The outfit featured a deep V plunge and long sleeves. In a departure from her glam curls the first time she wore it, this time around, she styled it with barely-there make-up and a sleek, straight mane and wore a statement maang tikka .
