All that was centre stage at the DLF Emporio's Treasury of Trousseau

Bridal opulence and contemporary flair—the essential highlights from the one-of-a-kind shopping soiree.

From September 4 to 7, a confluence of shoppers, couturiers, and fashion enthusiasts gathered for the DLF luxury mall’s marquee event, Treasury of Trousseau, a four-day immersive celebration embodying the opulence of the Great Indian Wedding. With a curated display of the most revered designers and coveted beauty gurus, the event brought under one roof everything from fashion and beauty to gifting and cuisine. An unmissable treasure trove for all brides and grooms to be, not to mention serial wedding attendees, here are the highlights from the event.

Jyotika Jhalani, the founder of Janavi India, unveiled an exquisite cashmere lehenga interwoven with gota at her DLF Emporio boutique. A true testament to the 25-year-old legacy of the designer's expertise with the fabric, this sartorial pairing has never been tried before. The warmth of cashmere blended with the sparkle of gota embodied the truest sense of functionality and regalia.

Indulgent cuisine and even more indulgent collections—the Treasury of Trousseau entailed a gamut of pit stops. At the fashion presentation of the global couturier, Surekha Jain, as the ensembles progressed from one segment to another, several models sporting layered lehengas became instant favourites. Intertwining the cultural craftsmanship of bridal couture with a contemporary twist, the repertoire of lehengas with two borders with the latter layer emerging from underneath the skirt, is a trend we are placing our bets on for the upcoming bridal season.

Head gears and veils

Be it Amit Aggarwal with his dramatic headgears mirroring the mysticism of his signature fluid silhouettes or the floral-feathered headbands from Suneet Varma, headgears emerged as the standout accessory from the event. Whether to elevate minimalist outfits as a guest or to stand out as a bride, headgear is the way to make a bold statement this season. Reigning across multiple bridal fashion collections, headgear is a surefire way to add that edge and eccentricity to your trousseau.

Meanwhile, designers Falguni Shane Peacock and Shivan and Narresh opted for wispy veils as their chosen dashes of drama. Spotted on various B-town celebrities like Shibani Akhtar, Parineeti Chopra and Priyanka Chopra, the flamboyance of veils has been heralded on multiple fronts. From encrusted pearls to classic embroideries, the tulle makes a serious case for luxurious sweeps and personalised touches.

From reflective danglers and sculpted metals to extravagant motifs and embellished accessories, Suneet Varma and Amit Aggarwal had it all. Gone are the days when blouses were an afterthought in the bridal trousseau. Redefining the blouse as an avant-garde staple, and pairing it with skirts and sarees, was a win which elicited multiple gasps and dreamy eyes throughout the event.

Monochromes and ruffled tissues

The days of being obsessed with colour blocking seem to be behind us, and it's a good thing too. We have all been waiting for monochromes to enter, or perhaps, re-enter the chat. Thanks to designer Ridhi Mehra, the classics were revived in dazzling elegance. Forefronting timeless craftsmanship from indigenous ateliers, she reminded us why monochromes are the evergreens you turn to.

Rimzim Dadu echoed the sentiment by showcasing futuristic cords in monochromatic tones with a play on some signature accents for lustre. Tissue dupattas, too, saw a playful resurgence in ruffled iterations by designers Ridhi Mehra and Surekha Jain proliferating the statement pieces in abundance, firmly establishing them as wedding must-haves.

Bejewelled sehras

The modern Indian groom has now risen above the indifference towards couture and gone beyond the basic beiges. This groom celebrates personal style and proudly embodies its nuances with plays on traditional pieces. One such accessory that remains ubiquitous is the Sehra. Breaking past the monotony of flowers, Falguni Shane Peacock leaned into everything fresh to glow up the classic Sehra—from pearls and tassels to beads, all entrenched deeply in the Indian heritage.
